Week 6: 26/02/2024



After the Alpha Phase, we realized along with feedback from the supervisors that the scope of BraveSouls was too broad. Collectively, we decided on lowering our game’s scope in order for us to deliver a finished product.

Here is the list of things we added, changed, shelved or removed:

  • Sewer and Castle levels SHELVED

We simply didn’t have enough time to work on the Sewer and Castle levels as they required a completely different set of assets from both 2D and 3D. Mentions of a Sewer and Castle area will be shown throughout the gameplay as a sort of “coming soon” for future game updates. 

The game we intend to release will be a prologue.

  • Inventory System CHANGED

Instead of having a full fledged inventory system, we decided on using statistics instead to compile inventory, especially for the quests. 

For example: Instead of looking for and gathering 5 Yellow Herbs for a quest, the game will now give you a log of the items you acquire.

  • 2 Playable Characters SHELVED 

The Warrior and Archer playable characters have been shelved. Similar to the other levels, the Warrior and Archer require their own design, animations and audio which we do not have time to implement. Instead we will be focusing more on the Knight and a little on the Wizard.

  • Ranking System ADDED

In order to keep the game interesting, quests will be given star difficulties out of five. One being the easiest. Now depending on the time the player has finished the quest, they will receive a ranking reward like: S Rank to E Rank. S Rank being the best reward. The ranks will determine the rewards the player receives.
