Week 1: 22/01/2024


Team Broccoli is formed! As part of our 4th year college assessment we are tasked to make a game of our choice. Over the course of this week we decided on one of the team member’s, Alex, already existing ideas. Here’s what Alex’s ideas were.

Initially, we were stumped on what to create. Which is ironic considering we were allowed to make anything we want in comparison to our previous assessments where a topic or theme was involved, this final project is entirely up to our imagination. Alex shared his (work in progress) roguelike game and he is a big fan of roguelikes. I (Mark), on the other hand, can’t even remember if I’ve ever experienced roguelikes. Alex’s passion for roguelikes and dreams of creating his own, along with my lack of experience with roguelikes made a perfect combination. This game will allow Alex to pursue his dreams and for me to gain experience and understand the genre. Thus, we decided to work on his roguelike idea of a casual adventurer taking on quests in order to make a living.

As a casual adventurer, you have no expectations of successfully finishing the quests but instead you’re forced to take on the “hero” role just for the sake of living. Using your abilities, you battle monsters and bosses, loot the battlefield and finish quests along with upgrading your tools, meeting NPCs and exploring the world.
